A Modifier, also known as a Prefix, applies permanent changes to an item's statistics.
It changes the name of an item by adding a prefix to the item's name.
Origins adds new modifiers with the new explosives added, some Summoner-specific modifiers and some post-Moon Lord modifiers, which can be selectively reforged by the Cubekon Tinkerer NPC.
Modifiers added by Origins can be normally obtained with the exception of the aforementioned post-Moon Lord modifiers.
Reforging
Reforging can now be done by the Goblin Tinkerer and Cubekon Tinkerer, with the Goblin Tinkerer offering a cheaper-but-ineffective means of it.
The Cubekon Tinkerer, meanwhile, allows you to choose any modifier you would like to apply to your items, but the reforge process is significantly more expensive.

Summon modifiers
Due to the addition of artifacts and incantations new summoner-dedicated modifiers were implemented in order to add a larger diversity of playstyles.

Explosive modifiers
With the introduction of the Demolitionist class, Origins adds a selection of different modifiers to apply to non-consumable explosive weapons.
All explosive modifiers that modify the damage output of a weapon only increase the damage by a small percentage to account for the already-high base damage of most explosive weapons.
The best modifier for any explosive weapon is Guileless, however there are some exceptions where a specific attribute is more valuable over the others such as blast radius or self-damage.
